Debunking Dr Google - Which are the Myths, Where are the Facts?: The internet has provided us with an ability to ask and answer questions, share information, and be heard. It allows for free speech and instant gratification. A client may feel satisfied with the results of their “research” from perusing the internet for the answers they seek, but do they have the awareness of what sites provide up to date and accurate information? Veterinary staff continue to struggle with debunking myths regarding nutrition and pet food. This session will review common label, ingredient, and veterinarian myths.

How To Be An Exam Room Rock Star: Productivity is simple. It’s about building strong systems to deliver service and effectively build relationships. Ordinary healthcare teams can create extraordinary results when they work within a strong system. Extraordinary team members can flounder and achieve sub-par results when they work without support.

Working With the Cash-Strapped Client: The inability to pay for medical services is a problem we have all encountered in practice. From a pragmatic standpoint, it should be easy to address: “If you can’t pay for services then those services can’t be provided.” Most of us, however, can’t or won’t accept this approach to medicine. So where does that leave us? In this session, we will discuss the primary reasons for financial constraints in the exam room, the importance of personal and business guidelines, and a communication program for navigating these conversations effectively and ethically.

Simple Nutritional Math: Math… the very word brings dread to the very heart of many professionals in the veterinary field. In an age of quick answers, and multiple resources most veterinary professionals cringe at the thought of having to stop and calculate kcals or cups per day for clients. Does the hesitation rest with math, or is it nutrition that causes us anxiety? By seeing the importance of nutritional math, we can offer our clients specialized nutritional calculations leaving a feeling of trust with the client and more accurate treatment for the patient.

In this session, she’ll review key nutrients needed for recovery and dietary examples will be provided.
